Personal Project. When creating the design for this chocolate bar I knew I wanted to make it very fresh and modern, since every other chocolate bar I’ve seen has a dark minimalistic theme. I created an illustration using Procreate and my iPad. When I was sketching the design I wanted to show the appreciation of the plant and what we can derive from it. For this reason, the cocoa bean is quite large, larger than normal, to catch your eye. The colours are bright and fresh making the illustration more interesting. After finishing the illustration, I moved to Adobe illustrator to digitalize it and then using Affinity Designer to add some texture to it. When it came time to pick the typography, I chose Lora – a serif feminine font with a few weight variations. I knew I wanted to use a serif font to keep up with the new trends and because it looks classy. To compliment that, I paired it with Akrobat – a san serif, clean font. In my design, the green label that you see on the front and back of the bar, would not be glued, but rather tucked in in the packaging. The reason for this is so that people can keep the illustration on the front of the packaging as an art piece and not have the label in the way.
